World's Highest Revolving Restaurant Unveiled in Gulmarg: A 360° Himalayan Dream at 14,000 Feet
World's Highest Revolving Restaurant Opens in Gulmarg
The world's highest revolving restaurant has now opened in Gulmarg, a renowned hill station in Jammu and Kashmir, often referred to as India's paradise. Situated at an approximate altitude of 14,000 feet on Mount Apharwat, it provides visitors with a breathtaking 360-degree view of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks. This restaurant is not merely an architectural wonder but has also emerged as a symbol of India's growing tourism footprint.
Gulmarg Already Boasts Several World Records
Gulmarg has long held numerous world records, including Asia's highest gondola (cable car project), the world's highest ski point, and the largest igloo cafe. With this new addition, Gulmarg's presence on the tourism map has been further enhanced. On Sunday, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated several development projects, including the revolving restaurant, a multipurpose hall, and a revolving conference hall.
High-Tech Technology Enhances the Dining Experience
The Chief Minister stated that the objective of these projects is to bolster Gulmarg's tourism infrastructure, increase visitor footfall, and generate employment opportunities for local youth. The restaurant incorporates advanced high-tech technology, allowing its floor to rotate slowly, while panoramic glass view points enable tourists to savor a 360-degree panoramic vista of the surrounding landscape. For visitors, the experience of sitting amid snowy weather while enjoying hot coffee and authentic Kashmiri cuisine will feel like a dream come true.
Reviving Tourism Amid Recent Challenges
Gulmarg's gondola is already renowned as the world's highest and Asia's longest ropeway, with its terminal station at Apharwat Top offering year-round skiing facilities. Now, alongside the new revolving restaurant and igloo cafe, the administration hopes to rejuvenate tourism in the valley. Although there has been a slight dip in tourist numbers following a recent terrorist attack in the Pahalgam area, this innovative initiative is expected to once again draw Indian and international travelers to experience the stunning beauty of Kashmir.
